Stala’s story is a story of Finnish design, functionality and quality. It began with a simple everyday need — kitchen worktop — that, throughout the years, grew into a business based on the idea of realising high-quality design in everything we do.
The EkoLine waste sorting systems were developed as early as the 1980s to improve households’ possibility to sort waste in a more efficient manner.
Stala’s stainless steel mailboxes were created in the beginning of the 1980s as the company was trying to come up with a way to utilise the surplus steel created by kitchen sink holes.
Stala adopted Lean tools with the primary objective of eliminating waste.
Stala adopted an environmental system.
Stala won Skanska’s environmental idea competition in 2016 by renewing its kitchen sink packaging to make it more environmentally efficient.
The chemical-free StalaTex production method
uses only a small amount of energy and is a unique method of creating patterned stainless steel surfaces.
Stala’s ambitious responsibility objectives are launched to manifest the company’s commitment.
Starting from January 1, 2021, Stala's factory has transitioned to exclusively utilizing emission-free, renewable wind energy. This green energy source is entirely free of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Association for Finnish Work has awarded Lahti-based Stala Corporation’s Seven worktops and backsplashes by the Key Flag symbol in recognition of a product made in Finland. The product family consist of custom-made worktops and backsplashes made of stainless steel.
The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design has awarded StalaTex™ by Green GOOD DESIGN® 2021, which is one of the most recorgnized design awards in the world.
We are committed to reducing the amount of waste we produce by 10% annually.
We are committed to being carbon neutral by 2035. The journey started with a staggered CO2 survey in order to understand the impact our operations have on the atmosphere.
